I'm not going to say you can't find good free bed plans for DIY projects, but your chances are slim. I have found that the quality of those kinds of plans is normally sub-par.
There are so many different styles of beds. Maybe you would like a good platform bed so you can store clothes underneith the bed. Or you may need new beds for your kids, but are limited in the space you have available. A good option may be to build a bunk bed with a desk.
